Photography in the Duranguesado Today discusses contemporary photographers of Durango. From modest postulates, the conference will cover, as a topographic map of the latest photographic creation, the state of Durango and the photographic production based around a simple premise: to make known the authors currently working in the same geographical territory and timeframe, from the most experienced and established artists to the most promising youngsters.
Mikel Onandia (Durango, 1983) is a historian and art critic. With a degree in Philosophy and Art History from the UPV / EHU, the graduate has completed Analysis of Contemporary Art at the University of Barcelona and the Master of Conservation and Exhibition of Contemporary Art at the UPV / EHU. He has carried out training practices and has worked in various museum centres such as the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and the Artium in Vitoria. He recently conducted the research project ¨Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao: the origins of a collection. The collections of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Modern Art in Bilbao. 1908-1936¨ with the Research Fellowship of the Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao - BBK Foundation 2010-12. He has also curated the exhibition ¨Other books¨ by sculptor Victor Arrizabalaga held in the autumn of 2012 in the Regional Library of Bilbao. He has worked for the cultural supplement Mugalari of Gara and as an art critic for the newspaper Berria since 2009 and as collaborator on Ortzadar in Deia. He is currently preparing Artea Durangaldean Gaur / Art in Durango today for publication.
